Potanin Grant Updates Power System Optimisation Course
We continue to introduce projects by lecturers on our master's programme that received funding through the Potanin Foundation's grant competition.
Stanislav Eroshenko's project will redesign the English-language online course Optimization in Power Systems for students on international master's programmes.
The updated course will cover optimisation across electric power engineering, from grid operating conditions and power balance to voltage control, equipment parameters and power system development. The emphasis will extend beyond algorithms to understanding how optimisation supports engineering decisions.
The project will revise the course structure, applied project-based case studies, assignments and assessment methods. It will also prepare the course for sustained use across UrFU's English-language and inter-university master's programmes.
As a result, students will develop knowledge of optimisation models alongside skills in critical analysis, problem formulation and professional communication in English.
