The Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydropower Plant stands on the Yenisei River in Krasnoyarsk Krai. Its distinctive 245-meter-high arch-gravity dam is the tallest in Russia and among the tallest worldwide.

According to the original article, enough concrete was used in the dam's construction to build a motorway from St Petersburg to Vladivostok.

Construction began in 1963 and was officially completed 37 years later.

The plant is described as an important source of electricity for Central Russia and Siberia, with an installed capacity of approximately 6,400 MW.
