When the International Olympic Committee decided to build a new headquarters, it prioritised sustainability and environmental performance. The resulting Olympic House in Lausanne uses four times less energy than a typical building of comparable size, according to the publication.

Notable features include:

• 100% renewable energy supply, including local hydropower and rooftop solar panels;

• a design in which 90% of the building is recyclable;

• reuse or recycling of 95% of materials from the previous building;

• smart ventilation and lighting controlled by CO₂ sensors and daylight;

• rainwater harvesting and water-saving systems.

The building's design reflects the Olympic ideal of unity of body, will and mind. Even its form evokes an athlete's movement.

Would you like to work in an office where sustainability is a founding principle rather than a passing trend?
