Forecasting Wind Power Generation with AI

Students in our master's programme are starting a new project practicum focused on the Kola Wind Farm, one of Russia's largest wind power facilities.

Their task is to develop and test mathematical models for predicting electricity generation using weather data and machine-learning algorithms.

Students will work in teams of two to four, taking on roles such as data analyst, modeller and developer. Over three semesters, the project will culminate in an interactive software prototype providing generation forecasts for the next 24–48 hours.

The participants will go beyond an academic exercise and develop a practical digital tool using real-world data.
