An updated online course in Optimization Methods will soon become available to students on the Artificial Intelligence in Power Engineering and Energy for Smart Cities master's programmes.

The course redesign is being led by Irina Farisovna Yumanova, a senior researcher at the Power Engineering Digital Twins Laboratory. She was among the winners of a competition organised through the Vladimir Potanin Foundation's support programme for master's educators.

The new course:

• covers contemporary optimisation methods, including techniques used in machine learning;

• presents adapted problems from industry partners;

• provides practical tools for addressing current challenges in power engineering and AI.

The course will initially be available online in Russian, with an English-language version planned for a later stage.
