A Solar Power Plant Shaped Like a Panda

Today we are highlighting a solar power project with an unusual design.

Built in China's Shanxi Province, the enormous panda-shaped power plant uses two types of solar panels. Its dark sections are formed from monocrystalline silicon panels, while its light sections use thin-film cells. The plant has a stated installed capacity of 100 MW.

The panda was chosen deliberately: it is a symbol of China, and the striking design is intended to draw attention to environmental pollution. The site also includes an educational center that introduces young people to the benefits of renewable energy.
