School Teams Build Energy Projects with UrFU Researchers

Three weeks of energy, technology and engineering projects

This summer, Dmitry Kozlov and Valeria Borovskikh from the Ural Power Engineering Institute's Power Engineering Digital Twins Research Laboratory mentored project teams during Rosseti Group's energy-themed programme at the Orlyonok Children's Centre.

They guided school students through the complete engineering project cycle: defining the problem, performing calculations, developing algorithms, writing code, building prototypes and presenting their work to experts.

The participants saw how power engineering, data analytics and programming knowledge can be converted into practical technical solutions.

The team mentored by Dmitry Kozlov took first place in the project programme.

Such initiatives give future engineers an opportunity to experience project-based work while still at school and to discover how closely energy, data and digital technologies are now connected.
