It has been a month since we launched two master's programmes at the Ural Power Engineering Institute: Artificial Intelligence in Electric Power Engineering and Smart Urban Energy Systems. Here is what makes them distinctive.

Live-streamed classes. All lectures and practical classes take place in the institute's coworking space and are streamed on VK. Students can watch live or access recordings if they cannot attend.

Evening teaching. Classes start at 17:40 three times a week, even though these are full-time programmes. Almost all our students work, and some are older than their lecturers.

Project practicum. The two-year learning experience centres on a real challenge set by an industry partner, so students can apply what they learn throughout their studies.

Industry partners. Teaching involves not only university staff but also RTSoft Group, Tavrida Electric, RES Group and Sistema—companies implementing digital technologies in electric power engineering in Russia and abroad.

Early-career lecturers. Some 95% of our lecturers are under 45 and either work for energy companies or deliver research and engineering projects for industry.

Official Telegram community. We post daily updates on teaching, relevant professional events, scientific grants, competitions and scholarships.

Programme websites and communities. To help applicants understand what, how, where and by whom they will be taught, we created websites at energy.urfu.online/ai_power_ru and energy.urfu.online/smart_citi... as well as VK communities.

It is never too late to study—the important thing is to choose a programme that suits you.
