On 14 May, Ural Federal University held a roundtable entitled 'Developing a Model for Cooperation Between the University and Industry Partners in Artificial Intelligence'.

Representatives of UrFU, industry, technology companies, the research community and government took part. Participants included Sber, Yandex, Rostec, HSE University, Sinara, Evraz and other organisations.

The central question was how to move beyond individual pilot projects towards systematic deployment of AI solutions in manufacturing, energy, transport and other sectors.

AI is developing faster than many industrial processes can adapt. Coordinating organisations that identify industry problems, develop technologies, train personnel and make management decisions is therefore especially important.

Under the proposed model, UrFU will bring together industry challenges, technical expertise and workforce development to help AI projects progress from pilot stages to practical use.

The roundtable concluded with an agreement to establish a joint structure to coordinate AI-related work—a step towards more systematic AI adoption in industry and a stronger role for UrFU as a technology centre.
