First-Semester Examinations: A Light-Hearted Study Guide
The first examination period is drawing to a close. It has been challenging and interesting, and students have shown that it can be done.
Here is some deliberately bad advice for surviving examinations:
1. Never prepare in advance. The later you start, the less likely you are to learn the material.
2. Treat your lecture notes as the enemy. They might contain everything you need for an exam or assessment. Do not write or read them—and avoid books, which could explain the subject in greater depth.
3. If you do feel like studying, attempt everything at once. Overestimate how much information you can absorb and remember in a single day.
4. Spend examination-period weekends partying, not preparing. Why give up a whole week to studying when you could retake your exams later?
Of course, this is a joke. Study conscientiously, support your lecturers and aim to pass your examinations with excellent results.
