Russia Celebrates Mathematicians' Day for the First Time
Today, December 1, marks the first observance of a new professional holiday: Mathematicians' Day.
The initiative was proposed by Moscow State University Rector Viktor Antonovich Sadovnichy in November 2023 and formally established by the Russian government in May 2024.
The date commemorates the birthday of Nikolai Ivanovich Lobachevsky, the distinguished Russian mathematician whose work made a major contribution to mathematical knowledge.
Congratulations to everyone in the field. We wish you new achievements in mathematics and other technical sciences!
