AI in Power Engineering: Programme Structure and Careers
The programme is designed for graduates of bachelor's and specialist-degree courses in engineering and the natural sciences.
It has three main components:
– traditional mathematical modules covering discrete mathematics and optimisation of technical systems;
– data processing and analysis, Python programming and cybersecurity;
– applied energy problems, including electricity generation technologies, analysis and optimisation of power system operating conditions, and new digital technologies in electric power engineering.
Graduates can investigate and develop adaptive systems to solve applied mathematical problems in electric power engineering.
Their future professional work may involve:
– applying artificial intelligence methods to electric power engineering problems;
– studying mathematical models of technical systems and technological processes, and data-processing and analysis methods;
– developing software and hardware for intelligent decision-support systems while meeting information-security requirements.
For the Distributed Generation Operating Modes module, we developed a case study with RTSoft Group on using a software platform to build control systems for intelligent distributed energy facilities.
