Ural Project of Energy: Student Research and Engineering Exhibition

Since 2019, the Ural Power Engineering Institute has held its annual Ural Project of Energy exhibition each autumn in UrFU's main academic building, together with a scientific project competition.

Young researchers from the institute and other UrFU divisions present their research and engineering achievements through models, prototypes, instruments, posters, videos, presentations, and other exhibits.

The exhibition traditionally covers six areas:

• Thermal power engineering and heat technology.

• Electric power engineering and electrical engineering.

• Power engineering machinery.

• Nuclear power plants: design, operation, and engineering.

• Applied mathematics.

• Distributed generation and renewable energy.

Students, postgraduate researchers, and early-career scientists can participate individually or in teams of up to five. A competition jury comprising key energy-sector employers in the Ural Federal District and institute industry partners evaluates the projects and provides expert recommendations for further development.

First-, second-, and third-place diplomas and special prizes from industry partners are awarded. Every participant receives a certificate.

Since 2022, the exhibition has been accompanied by the international Ural Project of Energy Conference. Participants present their research projects to a jury that also includes institute faculty, and the conference publishes a collection of papers.

Participation may earn points in UrFU's student research rating and competition for enhanced scholarships recognizing scientific achievement.
